Why purchase a heat kit?
Heat kits, or electric heat strips, serve as an essential secondary heat source integrated into the air handler. They are often likened to a “large blow dryer,” as they generate direct heat that is distributed through the ductwork. Typically, these kits are activated during emergency situations, such as when the primary heat pump is temporarily out of service, or when outdoor temperatures plummet to extremely low levels. Though not as energy-efficient as heat pumps, heat kits provide critical backup heating when necessary, generally for short-term use.
